Our company carried out supervision as part of the project to rehabilitate the unsanitary landfill and extinguish the fire at the “Mislov do” location in Nikšić. This project achieved several key results that improved the area’s environmental and health conditions.
First, the emission of methane and other toxic gases was successfully reduced, reducing air pollution and the risk of global warming. By installing protective barriers, the project significantly reduced the risk of contamination of underground drinking water sources, thereby protecting resources crucial to the health and well-being of the local population.
Effective fire-fighting measures resulted in the elimination of existing fires at the landfill and in reducing the risk of future incidents, which further protected the local community. The rehabilitation project participated in restoring the damaged ecosystem and improving biodiversity in the area. Finally, the risk of respiratory diseases and other health problems associated with exposure to toxic substances was reduced, which improved the quality of life of the population near the landfill.
Based on the results of measurements made at manhole No. 6 on August 7, 2024, and measurements taken at the same manhole on September 2, 2024 (before the completion of the first phase of remediation and extinguishing of underground fires at the unsanitary landfill “Mislov Do”), a significant reducing the concentration of toxic and flammable gases such as CO, H2S and H2.2.
